Michael Soenen, CEO, Emergency Link
I interviewed entrepreneur and former FTD CEO Michael Soenen on his start-up Emergency Link. I asked him what advice he has for those considering starting a business and running their own small business.
There is a link at the end of this post to an article I wrote on Examiner.com about Emergency Link.
Stop Talking and Start Doing
“I tell people to get started, get a product up, and start learning.
“I can give you good thoughts but how do 1,000, 10,000 or 100,000 consumers feel about the product?
“Don’t try and be perfect. Get the idea out of the head and into the marketplace and let people begin judging and commenting on it. Then start adapting and making adjustments based on feedback.
Not Everyone is Entrepreneurial
“I think some people love being entrepreneurs and they think of how to make them better and win.
“And there are others who default in to being entrepreneurs and those people are going to fail. I tell them as much.
“Being an entrepreneur is a 20 hr a day thankless job there’s a lot of work with little recognition.
“You have to have tremendous strength of will and courage and those kind of people are going to be successful no matter what they do.”
