Business owners who wonder if or how they should outsource tasks to specialists should learn a lesson from country music artist Brandon Alan.
Brandon is 27 years old and his newest CD is coming out in September. I interviewed him recently for an article that's on my LA Business News Examiner.com site. He had the wisdom to understand he must focus on creating his product, music.
He outsources the other tasks that have to get done.
"You have to wear many hats to get a career rolling and build an audience. A lot of artists may say they take their career seriously but it's not the case. You're building step-by-step and it's a losing business for a long time."
Brandon told me he doesn't believe success is a hit-and-miss proposition.
"I've taken control of radio promotion and hired online marketers and I've hired PR because it has to function as a team.
Brandon also said there are many strategic decisions to make. "Should I take a concert in Hawaii if I'm offered a gig? Or should I focus on T-shirt sales? The decision-making process is on-going."
