Writing web content requires strategic planning
I finished a website project for a client in ten business days where I wrote the copy and the design team I use did two layouts and five different designs to work from. That was satisfying.
Writing and design are definitely a craft and like any business operation that needs pre-planning, there are basic steps to take to ensure a positive result from the written word and the design.
The more clear the idea and the concept is in the minds of the decision-maker then the less costly and frustrating is the process.
As a business writer, I like working with structure. Rather than limiting, it’s important to know the boundaries and angle to communicate to work inside those parameters.
It’s like budgeting for a business, isn’t it? Or setting a purpose for the company. The purpose sets a boundary for the company to operate within and make strategic decisions.
Writing copy for company websites or brochures requires communicating the strategic nature of a business.
